JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Faulty fire sprinklers flooded the first floor of Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health.

Patients and the emergency room were not affected. But visitors were turned away on Sunday.

Hospital spokesman Mark Rabson tells The Jersey Journal (https://bit.ly/1pHOKZt ) an electrical impulse activated the sprinklers.

Rabson says the sprinklers flooded the elevator banks and caused damage to the lobby and gift shop.

It took firefighters about an hour to turn off the sprinklers.
