BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A 17-year-old boy from Frazer died and an 11-year-old boy was injured when a car went off the road, over an embankment and into an irrigation ditch northeast of Fort Peck Lake.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 6:20 p.m. Saturday.

The patrol says the 17-year-old failed to negotiate a sharp turn in the road and continued straight. He tried to get back on the road, but overcorrected, causing the car to roll through a fence and down an embankment. The car landed on its top in an irrigation ditch.

The patrol tells The Billings Gazette (https://bit.ly/1yq88Ju ) the driver was trapped in the vehicle, but the younger boy was able to get out. He was taken to the hospital in Glasgow.

The victim’s name wasn’t immediately released.
