TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey’s newest representative is expected to join Congress this week.

Democrat Donald Norcross won two elections last week. One was to fill the remaining two months of the term vacated by Rep. Rob Andrews, who resigned earlier this year.

The second is for a full two-year term representing the 1st District in the Philadelphia suburbs starting in January.

The special session gives him a leg up on seniority over other incoming members.

Local Democratic organizations will get to choose a replacement for Norcross in the state Senate.

Two other state legislative seats will also need to be filled in January as a result of the elections. Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman also won a seat in Congress. And Assemblywoman Celeste Riley is becoming Cumberland County clerk.
