SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio police have arrested a man who allegedly shot his wife in the back while she sat in an SUV as the couple argued.

Robert M. Ramirez Jr. was being held Monday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Bond is $115,000. Ramirez was arrested following Sunday’s incident that left his wife, Christina, wounded.

She’s under observation at San Antonio Military Medical Center. Hospital officials didn’t immediately return a message Monday about her condition.

Investigators say Ramirez was standing in a doorway when he allegedly fired as his wife prepared to go to work. Police didn’t immediately say what led to the dispute or release details of his criminal history.

Online records don’t list an attorney for Ramirez.
