MILWAUKEE (AP) - Family, friends and neighbors of a 5-year-old Milwaukee girl who was fatally shot while sitting on her grandfather’s lap have honored her with a candlelight vigil.

Hundreds of people gathered for the memorial Sunday night for Laylah Petersen, who was killed Thursday. Her father, Robert Petersen, told people in the crowd that their support would pull the family through. Speakers urged people to call police if they knew anything about the case.

Milwaukee police said Sunday that no arrests have been made. Police say one of a dozen bullets that two people fired into Petersen’s grandparents’ home struck her in the head. Investigators have said they don’t believe anyone in the home was being targeted.

A funeral is planned for Wednesday. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information about the shooting.
