DANBURY, Conn. (AP) - The victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident in Danbury on Saturday has been identified as the 23-year-old mother of a 3-month-old baby.

Police said Rachel Sack was pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital after being hit by a dark-colored SBU as she crossed the road near South Street and Green Pasture Road.

Friends tell The News-Times of Danbury (https://bit.ly/1sxeMtI) Sack was a certified nurse’s assistant at Danbury Regional Hospice and was buying a home for herself and her son Jackson.

Lifelong friend Stephanie Ewud tells the newspaper Sack was “a kind, compassionate human being,” who enjoyed life. Ewud said Sack was “obsessed and in love” with her baby.

Sack also is survived by her parents, brother and sister.

A reward for information on the accident has been set up at Union Savings Bank in Danbury.
