DALLAS (AP) - Parades and festivals have been scheduled to honor military veterans across Texas.

Parades were planned Tuesday in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and a number of other Texas cities as part of Veterans Day.

Some communities honored veterans last weekend, including parades Saturday in San Angelo, Amarillo and San Antonio.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw says agency officials are especially thankful for the military veterans who have chosen to join DPS. McCraw says those veterans continue to serve and protect Texas.
