A member of the House Armed Services Committee says the U.S. spends $300,000 per hour on efforts to degrade and destroy the Islamic State group through airstrikes.
Republican Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina made the statement while appearing on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal.
“We continue to spend money we do not have and are breaking the military now,” Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., said Tuesday, Marine Corps Times reported Tuesday. “We are spending right at $300,000 per hour in fighting [the Islamic State group].”
Mr. Jones said that he would not vote in favor of funding military operations against the terror group if asked to do so today.
“Tell me how you will pay for it, [to] continue to fight these wars around the world,” he said, the paper reported.
