SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Police in Savannah are investigating a shooting during a domestic dispute that left a 6-year-old girl hospitalized.

Savannah-Chatham police spokesman Julian Miller says the girl was taken to Memorial Hospital after the shooting Thursday morning. Authorities say they don’t believe the girl’s injuries are life threatening.

Savannah-Chatham public schools spokesman Kurt Hetager says the gunfire prompted a brief lockdown at a nearby elementary school. It’s unclear if arrests were made and details on the nature of the dispute weren’t immediately available.

The shooting comes after the death of a 2-year-old girl who was fatally shot Tuesday night while she slept on a couch in her family’s apartment. Police Chief Joseph Lumpkin has said the family’s apartment was targeted and the shots were fired from outside the unit.
