WEWOKA, Okla. (AP) - Seminole County authorities say a man is in custody after shots were fired at a deputy, prompting a temporary lockdown of nearby schools.

Seminole County Undersheriff Terry Gouker says a deputy was responding to a call Thursday afternoon to a rural area near New Lima Public Schools when someone fired shots at him. No injuries were reported.

Gouker says officers set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspect. They recovered several weapons from a makeshift deer camp.

New Lima Schools were temporarily placed on lockdown, but Gouker says once police were posted at the schools, the lockdown was lifted.

Gouker says the man was taken into custody without incident after he was found at a home near Seminole.
