“The Boss” will be one of the recipients of a new award given out to entertainers who work to improve the lives of U.S. military veterans.

New York’s Friar’s Club and its charitable arm the Friars Foundation announced Tuesday that it will host a first of its kind event to recognize “outstanding achievement and excellence in providing opportunities and support to our nation’s veterans and military families” in Washington in January.

“The Lincoln Awards” will be given out Jan. 6 at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, Army Times reported Wednesday. A concert linked with the event will take place the next day.

The awards will be given out on the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural. During his speech the president stated America’s commitment “to care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow and his orphan.”

Army Times reported that Mr. Springsteen will receive the Entertainer Award for “several decades” of service to veterans.

Some of the other awards to be given out at the upcoming event include the Medical and Science Award, the Corporate Citizen Award, and the Artistic Award.
