CHESTER, S.C. (AP) - Chester police think a Lancaster man shot his estranged wife to death before killing himself.
Police Chief Andre Williams told local reporters the shooting happened Thursday afternoon outside the water district office.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Williams said the man walked into the water department office where his estranged wife worked, talked with her and she then walked outside with him and they argued.
The police department said the man then shot the woman and himself. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the couple had been separated about two months.
Thursday’s shooting was the second deadly shooting of the week, both involving a city employee or official.
Chester City Councilman Odell Williams was shot and killed just outside the city limits Tuesday night. That case is still under investigation.
“You never get used to this,” Williams said.
