HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - The city of Hernando is offering for sale the police department’s old SWAT team bus.
The Commercial Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/1zAaARv ) the aging bus was declared surplus by city aldermen this week.
Mayor Chip Johnson says the bus hasn’t move in years.
Police Chief Mike Riley says the vehicle was used to transfer prisoners - when it worked.
Aldermen also declared as surplus two vehicles seized in narcotics cases, a 1999 Jeep and a 1993 Buick, and proceeds from their sale will, under state law, go into a special forfeiture fund for police activities.
