Republican operatives marked the one-year anniversary of Obamacare’s failed tech rollout Wednesday by highlighting another early stumble — the promise that everyone could keep their health plans, even though the overhaul’s new coverage standards resulted in cancellation notices for thousands of people in states with key Senate match-ups this fall.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee released an online video that, one by one, shows President Obama and vulnerable Senate Democrats repeating some form of the pledge that “if you like your plan, you can keep it.”

Democrats like Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, New Hampshire Democrat, and Sen. Mary Landrieu, Louisiana Democrat, both of whom feature in the video, led the charge to rectify the situation last fall after it became clear the cancellations would be a political liability for the party.

The White House, under duress, let people to keep their bare bones plans for a few more years, so long as the customer’s issuer and state regulators allowed it.
