An unidentified man flying from Philadelphia to the Dominican Republic caused a massive stir aboard his plane after he shouted in Spanish that he had Ebola, while sneezing and continuing to cough.

After shouting “¡Tengo Ebola,” or “I have Ebola” in English, the man also said he had recently traveled to Africa, Mediaite reported.

When the plane touched down at Punta Cana International Airport, passengers were forced to wait several hours on the tarmac to allow hazmat crews to board and escort the man to a medical facility, the news outlet reported.

Turns out, he didn’t have a fever and he hadn’t traveled to Africa. Passengers were then allowed off the plane.

A flight attendant, meanwhile, gave her opinion of the situation — calling the man an “idiot” for his so-called joke, Mediaite said.
