MONROE, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan woman admits she faked her own disappearance and even put an ad on Craigslist to find an abductor.
Hayley Turner pleaded guilty Thursday to causing a false police report to be filed.
The 18-year-old Turner claimed she was abducted Aug. 7 in Bedford Township, just north of the Ohio-Michigan border. She was found safe with a puppy, 16 hours later in Ecorse, near Detroit.
Turner told a Monroe County judge that she posted a Craigslist notice seeking to be “taken away.” A man who responded to the ad hasn’t been identified by police.
The Monroe News (https://bit.ly/1stT8uj ) says Turner will return to court for her sentence on Nov. 20. As part of her plea deal, she must pay $15,000 to the sheriff’s office for the search.
