AMITE, La. (AP) - Tangipahoa sheriff’s deputies say an Amite police officer accused of sexually assaulting women after deceiving them online has been arrested.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1E3YcKm ) 25-year-old Grant Carruth, of Husser, was taken into custody Tuesday and faces two counts of second-degree kidnapping, one count of aggravated rape, one count of sexual battery and one count of theft.

Investigators have linked him to two cases from Aug. 11 and Sept. 20. In both, police say he approached his female victim and identified himself as a narcotics officer, handcuffed them and said they were being arrested.

Deputies say the victims were taken to undisclosed locations within Tangipahoa Parish where they were forced to perform sexual acts against their will.

It was unclear whether Carruth has an attorney.
