WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Officials say a fire at a Purdue University demolition site was contained to the building’s roof.

The fire was reported about 1 a.m. Wednesday when a passer-by called to report smoke in the center of the West Lafayette campus. The fire was located at the site of the former Engineering Administration building and an adjacent power plant.

Purdue University spokeswoman Liz Evans tells WLFI-TV (https://bit.ly/1s7437Z) that the power plant building is vacant and not in use. The buildings are being demolished to make space for a new classroom and library building.

Officials say the fire was quickly extinguished, with no injuries or damage to other buildings. No class disruptions are expected Wednesday.
