PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Providence man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison after he sold heroin to an undercover federal agent for cash and a weapon.

The U.S. attorney’s office said Wednesday that 43-year-old Jose Fuentes was sentenced to 77 months for trafficking heroin and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He had pleaded guilty in June to multiple counts.

Authorities say Fuentes twice sold heroin in 2012 to undercover agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for cash. A third time he sold the heroin to an agent for a .380 semi-automatic pistol and $100 in cash.

Fuentes has been detained since his arrest.
