GRANVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York man has been arrested after police say he threatened to kill his girlfriend and fired a rifle into the air.
Washington County Sheriff’s office says officers found neighbors restraining a man when they responded to the backyard of a Granville home Thursday evening.
Authorities say the suspect, 32-year-old Arthur Hansen, had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend and son about the family dog and threatened to kill them.
The Post-Star (https://bit.ly/1nC4Fak ) reports that the son yelled for help. Police say Hansen grabbed a rifle and discharged it into the air.
Hansen was arraigned on charges of illegally discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, reckless endangerment and menacing. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
