MERIDIAN, Idaho — Idaho State Police have seized 150 pounds of marijuana from a commercial truck driver who reportedly said he had just an ounce of pot when a trooper stopped to check on the man.

Police spokeswoman Teresa Baker said Monday that the trooper inquired about marijuana after detecting the odor while questioning the driver of a tractor-trailer rig that was stopped early Saturday along Interstate 84 in Meridian, Idaho, near Boise. The driver said he had stopped to sleep while waiting for highway construction to clear.

The 48-year-old man from Dunnellon, Florida, was arrested for investigation of felony drug trafficking. Baker says the street value of the marijuana is estimated at more than $500,000. It’s believed to have come from Washington state.

State police seized the pot, the truck and $2,000 in cash.

Police identified the driver as Michael John Wojciechowski.
