CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The National Parks Conservation Association has honored the superintendent of Yellowstone National Park with an award.

The association has given Superintendent Dan Wenk its Stephen T. Mather conservation award. It’s named after the first director of the National Park Service.

The association cited Wenk for his role in completing a winter use management plan at Yellowstone and other accomplishments.

Bart Melton is Yellowstone senior program manager for the association. He says Wenk has proven to be an exemplary leader.

Wenk says he’s honored to receive the award.
