Three administrative buildings were burned at the Flight 93 National Memorial in western Pennsylvania on Friday.
The National Park Service reported that there was “extensive damage” to the complex, although no one was hurt.
National Park Service spokesman Mike Litterst said the flames did not affect the memorial or construction to the visitors center, The Associated Press reported.
On Sept. 11, 2001, 44 people died on the Boeing 757 when terrorists overtook its cockpit. The plane was diverted from its original route to San Francisco towards the nation’s capital and crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
