Clean-up crews have arrived at the Dallas apartment where four family members are holed up because the Liberian national diagnosed with Ebola stayed there for days and sweated feverishly into bedsheets.

CNN footage showed crew members pulling on protective suits before they entered the unit.

Thomas Eric Duncan is in serious condition at a Dallas hospital after he became ill and tested positive for Ebola earlier this week.

Local officials faced scrutiny for failing to clean up the possibly tainted apartment sooner, as the quarantined family members are under legal orders not to leave the residence.

The woman who hosted Mr. Duncan told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that she put bleach on the bedsheets, but did not know what else to do.

A clean-up crew had been turned away late Thursday because it did not have the proper permit to carry hazardous materials on Texas highways.
