DENVER (AP) - Police say a man arrested in the killings of two women in a Denver apartment told investigators that he argued with the women before shooting them.

Court documents released Friday say 22-year-old Jose Gabriel King told police the women were his roommate and a friend. The Denver medical examiner identified them as 19-year-old Amanda J. Anders and 22-year-old Nancy Worrell.

The women’s bodies were found late Wednesday. Police arrested King in Castle Rock for investigation of two counts of first-degree murder.

Police say they encountered King after his father asked them to check on his welfare. Police say King had been apologizing and saying goodbye. Detectives say King told them he did not remember why he had argued with the women.

Court records do not list an attorney.
