ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The seven teams are scheduled to compete in the 19th America’s Challenge race for gas balloons in Albuquerque.

The teams soon will be headed to Balloon Fiesta Park to begin assembling their equipment in anticipation of a Monday evening launch.

The latest trajectory forecasts offer the competing pilots several options in planning their flights.

It’s expected the balloons will generally head east out of Albuquerque across Texas and into the southeastern U.S.

However, there is an option that could potentially take the balloons on a track further northward through Missouri and eastward.

The event is part of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

Approximately 550 pilots are taking part in this year’s Balloon Fiesta, which runs until Oct. 12. The event draws tens of thousands of spectators from around the world.
