CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The U.S. Attorney’s office in New Hampshire says a Florida woman has pleaded guilty to conspiracy in connection with a tax refund scheme.

Prosecutors say 47-year-old Ann Marie Howard Aguiar of Jacksonville admitted she filed false claims for tax refunds from the Internal Revenue Service. She’s scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 16, 2015.

The Nashua-based scheme resulted in the filing of 5,000-plus false claims seeking $9.4 million. It was run by Craig Cudhea, who recruited a network of pastors to solicit members of their congregations to provide names and Social Security numbers with the idea the information would be used to secure governmental funds.

Cudhea transmitted the information to Aguiar, who entered the information on tax returns.

Cudhea, who was charged with conspiracy and wire fraud, committed suicide last year.
