ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Retail sales in Aspen soared nearly 13 percent in July over the same month last year, thanks in part to events at the Snowmass Village resort.
The Aspen Times reported Tuesday (https://tinyurl.com/m7w4pmq ) city statistics show July sales were nearly $69 million, compared with just over $61 million a year earlier.
Stay Aspen Snowmass, a reservations company, says Snowmass Village’s yoga festival, July Fourth celebration, weekly free concerts and smaller events are big factors in the increase.
The city’s latest consumption report shows multiple sales categories posted double-digit gains in July compared with a year a year earlier, including restaurants and bars, sports equipment and clothing, liquor and marijuana and luxury goods.
