BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (AP) - An official says a Dayton suburb may hire a public-relations firm to help manage communications in the wake of last month’s fatal shooting of a man by police in a Wal-Mart store.
A member of the Beavercreek city attorney’s staff tells the Dayton Daily News (https://bit.ly/1si5ZyZ ) that the city may seek help from a PR firm “as a tool for legal counsel.”
City officials haven’t said if a specific firm has been selected or what duties the firm would perform.
The city has gotten national and international attention since 22-year-old John Crawford III was fatally shot in a Wal-Mart on Aug. 5 by officers who said he refused orders to put down a pellet gun he’d picked up from a shelf.
A grand jury will consider the case Sept. 22.
