JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Joint Base Charleston is holding a ceremony to commemorate those lost in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and those killed in the line of duty since that time.

Thursday’s event begins at 4 p.m. at the flagpole across from the base headquarters building.

Base Commander Col. Jeffrey DeVore is leading the event, which will include a military formation and a reading of the history of the events of the day.



Some 3,000 people were killed in the attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.
