TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona State University police are increasing their presence around campus following a sexual assault that was reported earlier in the week.

The Arizona Republic reported (https://bit.ly/1D7SS8m) Sunday that campus police are bolstering patrols and the visibility of officers in an area where a female student says she was knocked unconscious and sexually abused.

The victim reported Tuesday that a man tore her shirt, fondled her and then hit her in the head at the Adelphi II Commons, a student housing complex.

ASU police spokesman Daniel Macias says the victim was later treated at a hospital and released.

Authorities say the victim appears to have been a random target.
