RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A Middlebury College artist-in-residence will be discussing the fashion worn on the popular PBS series “Downton Abbey” during a free event next month in Rutland.

Jule Emerson’s talk is part of the Vermont Humanities Council’s First Wednesdays lecture series. It’s open to the public.

Emerson has worked professionally as a costume artist for television, including for the shows “The Wonder Years” and “Saturday Night Live,” as well as for feature films, commercials and professional theatre.

She has been an artist-in-resident, costume designer and professor at Middlebury College for 14 years.

Emerson’s talk will be given on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Rutland Free Library.
