ELLSWORTH, Maine (AP) - Police say a 40-year-old Hancock woman has been seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Ellsworth.

The driver’s SUV went out of control and swerved into a utility pole at about 6 p.m. Sunday. Police tell WABI-TV (https://bit.ly/1qDBt3n ) the vehicle rolled and came to rest on the opposite side of the road in a ditch.

The driver, identified as Stacie Alley, was first taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth before she was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Police say alcohol appears to be a factor, but there was no word on charges.

The crash knocked out power to several area homes and forced a two-hour shutdown of the road.
