CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Aggravated assault charges have been filed against a southern New Jersey man who allegedly used an ice pick in a bid to injure a police officer.
Camden County police say 24-year-old Jerrick Lawrence of Camden also faces criminal mischief and weapons charges.
Authorities say officers encountered Lawrence when they responded to a domestic incident in south Camden on Tuesday night. Lawrence allegedly ran from the scene, but officers pursued him and soon wrestled him to the ground.
Authorities say Lawrence resisted arrest, then swung the ice pick at an officer before being disarmed.
Lawrence’s bail was set at $85,000. It was not known Wednesday if he has retained an attorney.
