SANBORN, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they found a convicted sex offender from the Binghamton area staying with friends in their dorm room at a western New York community college.

Local media report that the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant Wednesday morning for 21-year-old Dustin Shrauger after he broke his conditions of parole by leaving the county.

Officials used the GPS device Shrauger is required to wear to track him to the student housing at Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, 15 miles north of Buffalo.

Police took him into custody without incident. Officials say he was staying with two female friends.

Shrauger was convicted in 2011 of raping a 6-year-old child and is registered as a Level 2 sex offender in New York state. He’s back in jail in Tioga County.
