SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - The head of the Pennsylvania state police says slain Cpl. Bryon Dickson “was no ordinary trooper.”
Commissioner Frank Noonan says everyone admired the 38-year-old law enforcement officer, who could always be counted on for advice and support.
Noonan addressed family members and hundreds of police at Thursday’s funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton.
He says it’s been hard to reflect on all that’s happened during the whirlwind week. Six days ago, a gunman killed Dickson in an ambush outside his barracks in the Pocono Mountains.
Another trooper was wounded in the attack Friday that touched off a massive manhunt for 31-year-old Eric Frein (freen).
