PHOENIX (AP) - A man who told police he had been taking methamphetamine for five consecutive days has been accused of a killing in east Phoenix.
Phoenix police say 21-year-old Stanley Brown is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of a dangerous drug.
It was unclear Thursday if he had a lawyer yet.
Officers were called to a Phoenix apartment about 8 p.m. Tuesday after a woman said a man walking through the neighborhood pointed a gun at her and demanded money.
While police were investigating, officers say they heard shots fired at a nearby apartment unit.
Police say 21-year-old Juan Guerava-Martinez was fatally shot while talking on his cellphone.
Brown was seen in the area and arrested. Police also say they recovered a gun.
