Syria’s government sent in helicopter gunships against a town held by Islamic State terrorists on Thursday, killing at least 15.

The Local Coordination Committees say a helicopter dropped a barrel bomb on a bakery in Al-Bab, killing 12 there and wounding dozens more, The Associated Press reported.

But the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in Britain, said the kill count was even higher — around 15 — and that some of the injured would probably die, too, AP reported.

Al-Bab, located in the northern region of the country, is held by Islamic State terrorists. The group also controls several other swaths of land that spans northern Syria, across much of western and northern Iraq.
