PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - A 1952 hot dog stand that is one of the last curbside dining spots in the Peoria area is up for sale and facing an uncertain future.
Decades after Lou and Margaret LaHood opened the popular carhop, Lou’s Drive-In is on the market for $650,000, the (Peoria) Journal Star reported (https://tinyurl.com/ltvbval ).
The drive-in offered hot dogs, hamburgers and pork tenderloins from May through September to customers in cars or at picnic tables. Residents will wait to see if a new owner reopens the business next year.
Friends and relatives of the LaHood couple have helped operate the drive-in since Lou died in 1993 and Margaret died in 2008.
