OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a suspected burglar was shot by someone staying at the Oregon home he was trying to enter.
According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the home outside Molalla was burglarized several times after the death of the occupant, and relatives have been staying there on occasion in hopes of preventing more thefts.
The son of the deceased family member was sleeping at the house early Saturday when he was awakened by someone forcing his way through the front door.
He fired a single round from a shotgun, injuring the 23-year-old suspect who was taken to a Portland hospital with a treatable head wound.
A 20-year-old woman with the burglar has been charged with drug possession and lodged in the county jail.
