PERRYSBURG, Ohio (AP) - A northwest Ohio community that sought thousands of gallons of water during a tap water ban now has too much stockpiled and is giving it away for free.

The Sentinel-Tribune in Bowling Green (https://bit.ly/YSUbsj ) reports that a company donated 8,000 gallons of water ordered by officials in Perrysburg, but it couldn’t be delivered before the two-day water ban ended last month. The ban was issued after toxins from algae fouled the tap water for 400,000 people in the Toledo area.

The Perrysburg director of public utilities says about three-fourths of the jugs are left. Because that water would take up too much storage space, it’s being given to Perrysburg residents. They can get up to four free gallons each.
