TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A $50 million donation will be used to establish a program at the University of Arizona that will focus on the environment, society and the Southwest.

The gift to the University of Arizona Foundation comes from the estate of philanthropist Agnese Nelms Haury, who died in March at the age of 90.

The contribution marks one of the biggest gifts the university has received in its history.

The university says Haury had been concerned about the preservation of cultures, ecosystems, human rights and issues facing immigrants.

Haury was the widow of a University of Arizona professor.
