ARTESIA, N.M. (AP) - The National Guard rescued 40 oilfield workers who became stranded near Artesia due to floodwaters from remnants of Hurricane Odile.

The workers became strained at a drilling location on Friday, but were later brought to a safe location later in the day.

Elsewhere in Eddy County, a man was found dead after his vehicle got stuck in water near Loving.
