UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say two people were killed overnight in a single-car crash on Long Island.

State police say the driver and a passenger in the Chevrolet Camaro were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened just after midnight Monday on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Hempstead.

Police say the vehicle struck the cement center median and crossed all lanes of the parkway before striking a tree.

The victims were identified as the driver, 22-year-old Stanley Miles, and his passenger, 31-year-old Darren Gregory. Both lived in Roosevelt.

The investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is continuing.

During the investigation a state police patrol car was struck by a passing motorist, causing minor damage to both vehicles.
