HAWK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - Search crews have recovered the body of a 53-year-old Torrington man who drowned in southeastern Wyoming’s Hawk Springs Reservoir.

Guernsey State Park rangers were called after James “Jesse” Nelson jumped into the reservoir to save someone who had jumped into the water from a boat Sept 14. The person who jumped in was rescued by people on another boat, but Nelson did not resurface.

Nelson’s body was recovered Saturday.

Guernsey State Park staff are responsible for maintenance and law enforcement at the Hawk Springs State Recreation Area south of Torrington.
