BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A South Texas man is jailed on capital murder charges after the bodies of his wife and 4-year-old son were found in a rubbish pile in the back yard of the family’s Brownsville home.

Donald Edward Pierce also has been charged with evading arrest. He’s in a Cameron County jail without bond after his arraignment. Online jail records list no attorney for him.

Brownsville police found Diana Ramos Pierce and William Pierce dead in tall grass and rubbish in the backyard of the Pierce family home Friday afternoon. An autopsy has been ordered, but police spokesman J.J. Trevino declined to reveal any information on how the mother and child died. However, he said Pierce tried to flee when he drove up to the house and found officers throughout the scene.
