ATLANTA (AP) - Police are investigating the deadly stabbing of a teenager in a park in the heart of downtown Atlanta.

Officers responded to Woodruff Park around 9:45 p.m. Sunday and found a man in his late teens who they say had been stabbed. The man, identified as 17-year-old Cody Phillips, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the initial investigation determined Phillips was stabbed when an argument escalated to a physical fight.

Jones says officers arrested 26-year-old Trent Anderson a few blocks from the scene of the stabbing. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.
