Josh LeRibeus will make his first career start on Thursday night when the Washington Redskins host the New York Giants.

LeRibeus will replace Shawn Lauvao at left guard as he did in the second half of the Redskins’ loss at Philadelphia on Sunday. Lauvao, who started the first three games, bruised his right knee on Sept. 14 in a victory over Jacksonville and has experienced additional swelling in recent days.

A third-round pick out of SMU in 2012, LeRibeus had not played a snap on offense since the final game of his rookie year. He was inactive for all 16 games last season.

Cornerback Tracy Porter may make his debut on Thursday after missing the first three games with a strained right hamstring. Porter, a six-year veteran who joined the Redskins in April, could help fill in for starter DeAngelo Hall, who tore his left Achilles’ tendon on Sunday and is out for the season.

Also set to make his debut will be cornerback Chase Minnifield, who was signed off the practice squad on Monday to replace Hall. Minnifield was on the 53-man roster for five games last season, but was not active for any of them.

Defensive end Kedric Golston will miss his third consecutive game after straining his right groin in the season-opener at Houston on Sept. 7.

In addition to Lauvao and Golston, wide receiver Santana Moss and nose tackle Robert Thomas will be inactive for Thursday’s game. The 6-foot-3, 325-pound Thomas, undrafted out of Arkansas in May, was signed off the Redskins’ practice squad on Thursday afternoon.

The Redskins had previously ruled out quarterback Robert Griffin III (dislocated left ankle), tight end Jordan Reed (strained left hamstring) and inside linebacker Akeem Jordan (sprained MCL in left knee) on Wednesday.

Giants middle linebacker Jon Beason is inactive and will miss his second consecutive game. Beason, who missed all of training camp with a broken bone in his right foot, was listed as doubtful on the injury report after aggravating the injury in Week 2.

Also inactive for the Giants on Thursday will be left tackle Charles Brown, right tackle James Brewer, defensive end Kerry Wynn and defensive tackle Jay Bromley. Wide receiver Odell Beckham and strongside linebacker Devon Kinnard were ruled out by the team on Wednesday because of injury.
