LETHBRIDGE, Alberta (AP) - Germany’s Ruben Zepuntke won the first stage of the Tour of Alberta on Wednesday in a group sprint in rainy, cool conditions.

The 21-year-old Bissell Development team rider finished the six-lap, 89-mile leg in 3 hours, 18.03 seconds.

Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands retained the leader’s yellow jersey a day after winning the prologue in Calgary. The Giant-Shimano rider has a six-second cushion over Zepuntke.
