ATHENS, Ga. — Authorities say a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives agent has been shot and is hospitalized.

ATF spokeswoman Ginger Colbrun said the agent was in stable condition following the shooting, which took place Tuesday in Athens during a law enforcement operation. She did not release details of the operation.

Colbrun said two suspects were involved in the operation. She said one is dead and the other is in custody.
